Gerhard Falkner * 1951 in Schwabach. Poet, playwright, essayist and translator. Numerous prizes, publications and translations. Fellowships in New York (writer in residence, NYU), Amsterdam, Rome (Villa Massimo, Olevano Romano), Berlin (Literarisches Colloquium), San Francisco, Schloss Wiepersdorf and Akademie Schloss Solitude, among others. Two work grants from the Deutscher Literaturfonds, most recently for Alte Helden. Received the Bavarian State Promotion Prize in 1987. In 1998 the book Voice and Void: The Poetry of Gerhard Falkner, by Neil Donahue, was published by Universitätsverlag Carl Winter, Heidelberg. (2006)
