Born and raised in Germany, Thomas Ahrens has lived in the U.S. for more than three decades. After studying English and French in Berlin, he received his Ph.D. in Germanic Studies from Indiana University Bloomington.
A college educator and literary translator, Thomas has collaborated extensively with Edward T. Larkin on translating Austrian novels into English. Their publications include: Leo Perutz, Between Nine and Nine (Ariadne, 2010) and Erich Hackl, Argentina’s Angel (Piscataqua, 2014). Michael Amon’s novel Panic is under consideration for publication.
Currently, Thomas directs the Convocation Program at Berea College, Ky. where he is responsible for the performance and distinguished speaker series. (2020)
