Harald Weinrich

Harald Weinrich has published several volumes of poetry: Mensch Herkules (1986), Sag Schibboleth (1997) and Das Leben und Lesen der Tiere: Ein Bestiarium (2008). He is also a well-known scholar whose books include landmark studies such as Tempus: Besprochene und erzählte Welt (1964), Literatur für Leser (1971), Textgrammatik der deutschen Sprache (1993), Lethe (1997), and Knappe Zeit (2004). He has taught at leading universities in Germany and abroad, and is Professor Emeritus of Romance Studies at the Collège de France. His work has won many literary prizes, including the Sigmund Freud Preis (1972), the Karl-Vossler-Preis (1992), the Hansischer Goethe-Preis (1997), and the Joseph Breitbach-Preis (2003). He is currently working on a sequel to his Bestiarium. (2009)
