von Waberer has published nine volumes of short stories, several
novels, and eight book translations from English. The daughter of a Bolivian
architect and a German mother, she grew up in Austria and Germany, studied
architecture in Mexico City, spent time in the U.S., and worked as an
architect and gallery owner in Munich before dedicating herself entirely
to literature in that city. Most of her works are about love in all its
forms and the fragility of relationships. Two recurring motifs, which
are humorously dealt with in Stella, are emotional repression and
the healing power of nature. (2009)
