Yevgeniy Breyger

Yevgeniy Breyger was born in the Ukraine in 1989 and moved to Germany in 1999. He is a poet publishing in German.

His first book of poetry, flüchtige monde (fugitive moons), was published in 2016. Its successor, gestohlene luft (stolen air) is set for publication in late 2020.

Breyger has won several awards for his poetry, among others the second prize of the Lyrikpreis München in 2018, and the Leonce-und-Lena-Preis in 2019. In 2020, he is the recipient of the work stipend of the Deutsche Literaturfond. In an interview in 2019, Breyger pointed out that though born in Ukraine and living in Germany, he sees himself as a Jewish poet.

He is currently the writer-in-residence in Edenkoben, Germany.
