Born in Weimar and living in Zurich, Sibylle Berg is a well-known writer, playwright, essayist and journalist who has published numerous novels, plays and essays.
She has been shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize and has been awarded, among others, the Wolfgang Koeppen Prize (2008) and the 2016 Else Lasker-Schüler Playwright’s Prize (for her plays as a whole). Two of Berg’s novels have appeared in English translation: By the way, did I ever tell you… (Hapax, 2007, trans. Raphael Gygax) and Thank you for this life (Thames River Press, 2014, trans. Ben Knight).
Her play Dog, Woman, Man has also been translated into English (by Neil Blackadder, 2004) on the initiative of the Goethe-Institut and was staged by Reetu Sattar at the Goethe-Institut Dhaka in 2014. (2019)
