Nino Haratischwili

Nino Haratischwili, born in Tbilisi in 1983, is an award-winning novelist, playwright and theatre director who lives in Hamburg. Her debut novel, Juja, won the Adelbert-von-Chamisso Prize in 2010 and was longlisted for the German Book Prize. In 2011 her second novel, My Gentle Twin, won the independent German-language publishers’ Hotlist award. The Eighth Life – For Brilka, published in 2014 to tremendous acclaim, is an epic Georgian family saga that traces the turbulent history of the Yashis and their country through several generations and a century of political upheaval.
