Regular literary translation lab (German into English) to discuss difficult texts, get help and inspiration, critique and ideas.
Every first Tuesday in the month
at 8 pm
in Max & Moritz (Bibliothek, upper floor) Oranienstraße 162, X-berg
No "homework" and no advance planning required! Simply show up with your texts (either for publication or for fun) and we will discuss as many as can be accommodated (first come, first served). Excerpts to be discussed should total no more than 1-2 pages so that they can be read on the spot. Please bring sufficient copies (about 10) of both original and translation. Apart from the in-depth discussions, we'll reserve some time for people with "quickie" questions, i.e. on single words, expressions, etc..
If no texts are in the offing, the organizers will provide a problem text of their own and/or other material to get the discussion going.
Even if you don't have a text to discuss, you are more than welcome to come and brainstorm, critique, kibitz or simply listen. We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your thoughts and suggestions! Isabel Cole and Katy Derbyshire

Ina Pfitzner und Martin Pfeiffer laden ein zu einem neuen Übersetzerstudio für literarische Übersetzungen aus dem Englischen. Dort wollen wir Auszüge aus Übersetzungen, an denen wir arbeiten, präsentieren, diskutieren, kritisieren, korrigieren, inspirieren, optimieren und polieren. Ab 17. August 2010 um 20 Uhr, jeden dritten Dienstag im Max und Moritz, Oranienstraße 162, in der Bibliothek im ersten Stock. Rückfragen oder Anmeldungen bitte an Ina Pfitzner.
