Ulrike Almut Sandig was born in Großenhain,
Saxony in 1979. In 2001, together with the songwriter Marlen Pelny, she
founded the literature projects augenpost and ohrenpost
in which they taped poems onto construction fences, spread them using
flyers and free post cards and gave their first concerts. In 2005 Sandig
completed her Magister in Religious Studies and modern Indiology. From
2007 to 2009 she was the co-editor of the literary magazine EDIT and in
2010 she received her diploma from the German Creative Writing Program
Leipzig. Ulrike Almut Sandig lives in Leipzig. Several of her texts have
been translated into English, French, Polish, Turkish, Bulgarian, Ukrainian
and Hindi. (2010)
