Julia
Schoch * 1974 in Bad Saarow, studied Romance Languages and German
literature in Potsdam, Paris and Bucharest. She has published two volumes
of short stories, Der Körper des Salamanders (The Body of
the Salamander, Piper, 2001) and the experimental Steltz & Brezoianu
(edition AZUR, 2007), the novella Verabredung mit Mattok (Appointment
with Mattok, Piper, 2004) and the novel Mit der Geschwindigkeit des
Sommers (Piper, 2009), which was nominated for the Prize of the Leipzig
Book Fair. She is the recipient of numerous literary awards. Her short
stories have been anthologized widely. She also translates from the French,
