Donal McLaughlin born in Northern Ireland in
1961, and resident in Scotland since 1970, he was Scottish PEN's first-ever
écrivain sans frontières and is a recent winner of the Robert
Louis Stevenson Memorial Award. His short story collection, an allergic
reaction to national anthems & other stories, was nominated for
two awards. His translation work includes collaborating with Chris Dolan
on THE READER, a stage version of Bernhard Schlink's DER VORLESER;
SHARDS, a bilingual edition of the poetry of Stella Rotenberg; and
almost 80 writers for the New Swiss Writing anthologies. Donal
McLaughlin has also edited selections of contemporary writing from Scotland,
Slovenia and Latvia. He is currently translating Urs Widmer. (2010)
