Daniel Oliver Bachmann was born in 1965 in Schramberg / Schwarzwald and lives in Stuttgart as an author and travel writer. He has also filmed documentaries around the world. He has received numerous awards for his work, including a fellowship from the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, USA and a literary fellowship from the Hawthornden Foundation, Scotland. His novel Raus aus der Provinz was published in 2006 by Ullstein, while his travel book Die Wüstenapotheke was published in 2007 by Droemer. (2007)
